‘Arthur & George’ by Julian Barnes

I’ve just finished reading ‘Arthur & George’ by Julian Barnes – best novel I’ve read for ages and I would highly recommend it. It tells the true story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle intervening to correct a miscarriage of justice in the first years of the 20^th century when a young lawyer is convicted of attacking a horse. Although it’s a gripping story it also feels like two fascinating biographies – you really get to know both men and the worlds they inhabit.
